Friday, June 30th, 2006

Say good night on 6 morning,
Awake by a call on the 12 afternoon,
Recall back what i saw in the dream,
I saw mum and fried egg bean.
Then i realise I started to miss the fried egg bean,
I realise i started to miss home.

    I started to get homesick…

Crying ~ 27 June 2006

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

I
already stay here more than 3 weeks times. Thank god my parent always
encourages me join trip since primary school, so I already used to go travel
with friends since primary school… So, I dun really face much homesick here. If
I found homesick, I sure cry everyday… But thank god I didn’t miss home much,
haha. What a good girl…

Hm…
but when the mood comes, nobody can resist it. I cried two times today. Hor…

The
first is sad news. I found my friend’s dog just passed away. I can feel the
sadness that my friends experience as the dog already been one of her family
member for so long. In my life, there are 3 dogs that my family has. I always
feel appreciate that they are one of our family member. They bring happiness to
us and I always tell my secret to them or talk to them like assuming they are
human. They really are the best listener as when u talks to them, they just
look at u silently like trying their best to understand what you talking about.
So cute~ So, I really feel sad that my friend’s dog has passed away. Hm… We
also met the dog for few times, knowing his healthy getting bad. And finally,
he leaved. I think, when dog passed away, they will have a happier life in the
heaven, since they give human so much pleasure. They deserve the good
consequence. SO, dun worry, the dog will be fine.
Although it is hard to accept the fact, he will live in our memory.

Liverpool The
second “cry” is about good news. My sister and I contact each other in various
ways. I call them on every weekend, or sometimes they call me also. Or my sis talks
with me through email, viewing my friendster or blog, or sms. It is really a
new media era!!! Haha, the main point I want to tell is not to promote the goodness of advanced technology. It
is telling about sharing the news and information and caring between my family
in Msia and me, here in Liverpool. Hm… Like
normal, I received an email from my second sis, Sis Fung, with bringing good
news to me. She said last Saturday, 17 June, her boyfriend proposed to her and
she said Yes. And the funniest thing is she emphasized to me, “she got the
ring!” I think it is really unbelievable when a girl received a ring from her
lover. Hm… Though I am at thousand mile away, but when I read the mail, I
really can feel her happiness as a girl. I REALLY REALLY SUPER HAPPY FOR HER,
until I keep on repeat the mail (though it just few sentences), and tears came
out from my eyes. Hm… My sis’s happiness is my happiness…I think my parents
surely feel glad that their daughter found a reliable man. They now surely
everyday discuss about the wedding. Hm… what present should I give to them… Haha,
I think I will be the one to in charge of making the video/ flash to show
during the wedding dinner… Free of Charge! Hor, outside have to spend few
hundreds to do it eh~… Me: cheap labor. I am longing for sharing and involve in
the preparation for the wedding. Anyway, the journey to find the one is not
easy, we all have to go through disappointment, sadness and learn and finally
appreciate all the past memory (relationship) that we have experience.

CONGRATULATION TO FUNG FUNG…. U FINALLY FOUND
THE ONE!

A Sweet Cloudy day~ - 25 June 2006

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

       Wake
up in the morning,
       Seeing
Merseyside* that I just knew
       It looks
familiar to me,

but I am still a
stranger here.

       Dun worry baby,
       It’s
only 3 weeks times,
       You
still have time to know her more.

Sometimes,
looking outside the window,
The
familiar western architecture that we knew since kids from TV
Growing in the east, staying at the west,
We doubt… Is it
we are still dreaming?

Dscn4685

       Walking back to
Marybone*
       Unluckily we met
in an enigmatic raining day.
       I know it is not
dreaming.
       The wind blows
strongly to my body,
                                 But
the cold rain gently touch on my face

I
know it is you.
             I got you inside
my heart.

       A lovely cloudy
day,
       With
my smiling face and your gently touch on it.

             I
see the Sun, and I see you.

Theme post 1 – World Cup 2006 in Liverpool

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

Well~, I gonna introduce and describe the life here by divided it into different theme.

The first theme I going to describe is World Cup 2006. It is the hottest topic we everyday chat about here.

I’m definitely not a football fans. In M’sia, I only watch for a match when my dad has bet on it. I feel excited for my dad if there is goal, and also feel funny when see my dad lost his bet. Haha. It is because when he won the bet, he will talk more. If he lost it, he will be silent.

But when I come to here, Liverpool, you know, we have to try as many things as we can. I know the chance to stay in a new culture and immerge ourselves in it is really peculiar. So, I push myself to learn world cup and “feel” world cup.

I have used the fastest way to learn, which is bet on one of the match. I’m that kind of person who prefer to do the things under my estimation and predictable. So, for me, gambling is definitely not suit my personality. But, as world cup is hot event here, all the male classmates bet almost every match. Some of them won some pocket money. Then, me n’ my housemate, totally 5 person, we decide to bet 5 pounds on Brazil. Hm… I already forgot which country is the another team for this match… From the tips from my classmates,Brazil is sure win. We just feel, aiya, let’s try!

Before the Brazil match is France. France is also another “sure win” team. But unfortunately, the match draw and most of my classmates lost on this match. We (my housemate and I), hor, nervous. Worrying on Brazil also draw. Thanks god Brazil got 1 score when the match was almost finishing… We, not only us, when Brazil get the goal, we can hear the sound “Goal!!”, is coming from everywhere at the hostel. (Mostly is guy’s sound, but our house is all girl’s sound) We so excited! Though we didn’t win much. Our bet is 5 pounds, then get back 7 pounds, means win 2 pounds. 2 pounds we put it inside our house fund, means, for us to buy our food or commodity. Once the match end, we open one bottle of lime juice and “Cheers”… haha… like we win a lot.

It is just a process. And I really enjoy it. Having the same aim with housemate is fun.

And this is not the end. It is our time to get our MONEY!!. We didn’t buy the bet by ourselves as the male classmates think it is not a good place for girls to go. Well~, gambling is legal in Europe countries. U can see casino in shopping centre, shop let, and their shop is small but the interior design is not bad. Then we decided to get the money with them to see the bet centre. It is called “William Hill”. There is not only world cup for betting, but also dog racing, horse racing, and different kind of betting is there. Just like 4D centre, but with TV screen and chair…

Dscn4970_1

- our receipt

Dscn4979 Dscn4974_1

There is form for u to write ur bet, and handout for u to check odds, and match. After u write ur bet, u just go to the counter and pay it. They will can ur bet form and give you one copy as receipt. If u lost it, u can throw it away. If u won a bet, then u just take ur receipt to the centre and the counter, they will just give you ur return.

Besides betting on its match, going out during England match is running is also another good way to feel world cup. During the England match was running on last sat, we went out to have a walk and there were really a lots of football fans were wearing or painting anything related to England team on their face or body. There is a big TV screen which always showing BBC channel in the city centre. So, most of the ppl was gathering at there to watch the match.

Dscn4903 Dscn4928

Dscn4930

When the matching was running, the fans was singing and drinking in front of the TV screen. We didn’t watch it. SO, we shop around the shopping centre beside it. Then during the last half time match, we were inside the shopping centre and been instructed to leave the shopping centre immediately. Then we found it is because the fans were making trouble when watching it and the TV screen was closed due to safety problem as ppl keep throwing their beer bottle on the screen. So, all the shop closed at 4pm and we got nothing can do… So, back to hostel!

The fever of world cup is not ended yet. As we r here in Liverpool, in England, sure we need to support England team also. Then, we, all the housemates bought England Jersey as item to collect. The jersey here is cheaper than M’sia. But unfortunately the female jersey is out of store. What we can do is buy the children jersey. Well~, it really fit us. I found my size is aged 7-8, and my other housemate buy 9-10. Hor, my size is only aged 7-8 for white people eh~. And not only we bought it, my other classmates also bought it.

Dscn4952_1

Hm…. At last of this post, i want to emphasize again that, betting is not a good habit. Most of my classmates did bet on its match. But only 2/3 person get the return. The others bet for few match, but at the end their return is negative. Just rmb, bet for fun, not for money. Then you won’t get lose in gambling.

I won’t bet other match anymore as I already try and know what is it about. But… I will bet on the final as a memory at here and also for World Cup 2006. How much I bet, 1 pound accept?? :P

The first time in Liverpool - June 8th

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

Wow… So long didn’t online.
Finally i got settle down here in Liverpool and get apply online access from hostel management.

When to start my speech on my new life here.?
It should be start from the time in KLIA. Before KLIA, my family n’ i went to ampang, a chinese restaurant to eat the good eastern food before i leaving to the west. Then we safely reached KLIA at 7 for check in.
Hm.. some of the classmates already reached, and some not yet. Then take some picture with family member Dscn4598
and khee them also reached.

Khee really.. haih… cried faster than us… I know u will miss us so much la.. haha, as me n’ siew mun are leaving together. Then u can find ally mah…

Dscn4608Then thanks wei keong again for present me a nice clothes for keeping me warm in this cool weather. N’ thanks ivan for his hat… so cute. hahaha.. n’ also Ken for his purple crystal… haha, as u said it will help me, but i dun need it… haha. But really thanks.

Then we went inside for boarding. About an hour time, we reached Singapore for transit as we taking Singapore Airline. But the funniest is we only hav 1 hours transit time. It is not enuf for us, as we take off from the KL flight, then hav to go another side to take another flight. But because we r in a big group, then wait this n’ that, then suddenly heard the operation calling our flight passenger. We have to walk like run to the gate. Hor, so far away. When reach the gate, all the passengers are on the plane already.

Then we hav to take 14 hours flight to liverpool. Hor… really cannot stand for it. I can’t sleep at all,  can’t watch the TV… dunno, headache. So, i wanna advice all my friends n’ family, dun take long hours flight. From 12am to 1pm… hor.. tired! Inside the flight i already can see the difference. Last time when went to Taiwan still fine as most of the passenger is chinese. But this time, the destination is west, so the ppl sitting beside u is all mat salleh… then they also will talk to u friendly, ask u where u go n’ for what purpose… Then i started to feel… hm… i really going to a very different place… A place with cultural gap and cultural shock.

Once we reached, there were our senior to pick us up. Inside the bus, they tell us the culture in liverpool briefly and the most important is about the handphone line. We bought the line on the spot inside the bus.

Once we reached we settle our hostel room and the luggage, then went out to buy staff. We explored some famous euro store, Tesco and 99p store. p in UK mean cent. We bought some food, and tools for cooking. It is sunday. And I think most of the resident here enjoy their sunday at home, so the road is really less ppl and car. Then we back hostel n’ sleep like a pig. Our house hav 6 room for 6 persons. Plus one room for kitchen n’ living room. Each room hav individual bathroom, so the environment is not bad as the furniture looks news n’ clean. The different with KL is the room is without air-cond but with heater.

It is really hard to take bath here. Coz’ everytime after bath body sure shaking.  But now, after few days, already used to it and know the way to prevent from cool after bath.

The the first day to Uni, we went to a hotel called Britannia Adelphi to attend the induction that our Uni prepared for all the student (about 500 - 600 student) who joining this summer programme.  There is some VIP from the Uni to have their speech and even the Police officer gave his speech about the safety in Liverpool.Dscn4645
After that, we have a trip to round the liverpool with tour guide. Then i able to see how big Liverpool is. Actually liverpool is not so big, just like Penang. Have south and north part, have town centre… But also have underground train and bus. Most of their car is mini cooper, sport car… other branded car, but also have proton car… hehe such like satra, wira, kembara
Then we the tour guide just briefly explained each sightseeing n’ give us a simple idea how does liverpool look like, so next time we can explode ourselves.

Then on tues, we have enrolment in our own campus/school, which is known as media, critical and creative art. Our campus is just in front of a the biggest church in liverpool… really really big… bigger than stadium putra, and even much more taller than stadium putra. Dscn4667

We just need to pay our fees and was introduced by all of our lecturer then having lunch together, it is a sandwich buffet… all kind of sandwich and bread…. and it was held outdoor, means under the brightly sun. hahaha.Dscn4686

Western culture…

Then after the enrolment, we have a walk in the shopping centre, we found all the things in Liverpool is expensive, except spaghetti and boots. 500gm Spaghetti is just 16p (x7 = rm1.12) so we bought a lots. Then most of the boots just cost 5 pounds (=rm35). The boots quality is good. It really attracts us to buy.

For the third day, Wed, our school provide another trip for us. It is went to North Wales. Another big state of United Kingdom. It took us 2 hours travel time to there, a place called Betws Y Coed. It is a sightseeing place to enjoy its natural environment which very near the mountain, and river and farm. We all crazy to see the farm as there is big black n’ white cow n’ white horse , white lamb at wide field. The scene can be seen at everywhere. And most of other traveller brought their dog alone, then we crazy to it again as we hardly see this kind of dog in m’sia. Dscn4782
Dscn4778
Dscn4818

After this destination, we went to a castle called Conwy. It is a big castle as we only can view one side of it, if wanna view all part of it hav to walk far.
Dscn4842

Then today, we hav a library tour. I like the architecture of our school library coz’ whole of the building is made of glass. so beautiful at night. And it really has a lots of books. and video , movies (famous in academic movie), maga, journal that we can borrow and watch inside the library can watch it with individual or group TV set. This library is just for few school, but the amount of book, is confirmed more than national library. And the important is all the book is updated. every book looks interesting. The library hav off campus services which mean we can borrow book at hostel if we hav online access. Or we even can view those paid online journey free from the library website as long as u r the student. We even can hav our own email add of John Moores Uni.

Some additional information about me at here and liverpool
1) Most of the resident here is quite friendly, they will talk with u initiative. One of my fren even been greeted "Yo, wat’s up".. with asking her to give him 5. haha, funny. They will chat with u, or smile with u, and say hi, morning, to u once they saw u…
But still, some teenager or young adult is not that friendly.. but very few.

2) hm… becoz here everything is expensive, even some of the resident is also have to think of save money when buying things. One time, we went to a market, and saw a bisket which normally sell 89p and now sell 16p. Then we discuss in front of it and there is a mat salleh come to us, and tell us to be careful when purchasing coz’ beside the price was labelling "May dated"… Wah, now already June le, but still sell the may dated food. I think, if a person want to save money, overdate food also will eat. But thank god, we still can afford the fresh food cost.

3) at here, they dun called SMS as SMS, they call it text. eg. Free SMS, they said is Free Text.

4) They said seldom said "thanks u" but "TAR", means thanks u also.

5) Their english we sometimes also can’t really un… We found the mat salleh with white color hair is speaking a very liverpool slang (the police officer told us they r speaking liverpool slang, which their word always end with "erch"/ "er" sound). Haha, just like we can’t understand the Peking ppl speak mandarin. Then the mat salleh with black hair, their english is fine for us to understand… haha, it is just our own interpretation.

6) now, in our house, we normally eat breakfast seperately. Means we prepare our own breakfast. I bought a lots of milk as it is cheap. so i normally drink milk, eat McVities biskut (here sell cheaper than M’sia), and eat an apple.
Then morning, we will prepare sandwich to bring it to out for lunch. coz’ we can’t rush back to purposely for lunch as there is a distance from U to hostel. About 30-45 minutes. SO, we prepare and bring the whole house sandwich out for lunch. Then we only cook for dinner. Normally we cook spahggeti as it is cheap. RIce super expensive here. 10kg cost about rm60. So, we share with another room and most of the time eat other western food.

7) as everything is expensive.. We learn to compare few supermarket n’ rmb which one sell what cheaper before we buy something. Haha, coz’ it is not like m’sia, the difference is few cents to rm1 from one shop to another but the difference here might few ringgit. N’ we learned to see the due date of food.. haha, as some of the food can be cheap but cant keep long…
We really like ah sam. COz’ even toilet paper, 4 rolls cost about rm3 , which in m’sia can buy many many rolls…. haha..

Here is end of this post.
Next time going to bring u see more on my school, room, hostel.
